Engagement Session at the Dallas Arboretum

Lauryn & Jesus

Lauryn and Jesus chose to have their engagement session at the breathtaking Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. We began their first set of portraits at the Women’s Garden near the Infinity Pool where the water seems to join White Rock Lake. Their laughter filled the air as I posed them in front of the pool, under the arch and then moved to the iconic Myrtle Alley, with its arching branches creating an enchanting, tunnel-like effect.

As always, while you are on your way to a feature you found on the map, you have to stop here and there along the way. The Folgelson Fountain in front of the Alex Camp House offered a reprieve in the shade from the walk there in the sun. It was a a very humid day in Dallas. Remember to pack a water or two because even though there are water fountains stationed throughout, it’s dependent on whether you end up on that path or not. There is a snack bar concession located at The Alex Camp House facing the main walkway.

We made our way over to the cascading Water Walls where the movement of the water created a dreamy, romantic backdrop.  From there, we explored Grotto Falls where the movement of water added a dreamy, romantic feel to their images. The grounds surprise you at every turn with either artwork, manicured hedges and lawns or blooms in every nook and cranny.

As the sunlight softened, we wandered through Palmer Fern Dell where a cool, fine mist welcomed us. Next we stopped on a bridge in front of a beautiful water feature that faced the east side of White Rock Lake. We then ventured to the Jansen Color Garden, a kaleidoscope of blooms and lush green lawn where I made them play ring around that perfectly complemented Lauryn and Jesus’ radiant love.

We stopped at a picture-perfect private alcove at the DeGoyer House for a couple of intimate images then made our way to the gorgeous front wood doors which offered a touch of historic charm to their portraits. Lauryn decided to ring the bell, signaling the end of our session together!
